The Challenge
When they came to Zehnder, the Sumitomo Corporation Tubular Group was a collection of companies operating under the Sumitomo brand. Sumitomo felt there was an opportunity to enhance influence, profitability, and longevity by harnessing all the Tubular Group companies’ power under a singular new brand.
The Strategy
Zehnder focused on the collective companies’ powerful ability to connect the dots of the entire energy supply chain, speaking to the power of the parent company Sumitomo. To reflect this, we drew on the “S” and “C” from “Sumitomo Corporation” and “Supply Chain” to develop the new name – “SC Connect.”
The Results
The SC Connect brand was so successful in unifying the collective offerings of the Tubular Group that the company has since launched sibling brands under the same name. One prime example is its SC EVO product, which offers clients a supply chain digital platform complete with data from numerous sources. This integrates and analyzes performance seamlessly, avoiding risk and seeking new opportunities in real time. The success of this effort also resulted in further creation of a powerful system of supply channels, operations expertise, and technology applications.
